Arizona Joins the IUA
Phoenix, Arizona
On Sunday, February 22, 2004 the 26th local association joined the family of the Urantia Association of the United States.
Urantia Brotherhood Association of Arizona was licensed in Phoenix, Arizona.
There was an air of excitement as this group of Urantia Book readers met at 11:00 a.m. in Phoenix, at the home of Dr. Judyth Shamosh to welcome Urantia Trustee Richard Keeler from Wyoming, IUA President Gaetan Charland from Quebec, Canada and IUA Executive Administrator Cathy Jones from Arizona. Meredith VanWoert from the sister association SURF and UAUS Membership Chair brought Thought Gems. This was the first time many of the group had met, coming from all points of Arizona and from vaious walks of life - from tortilla factory, nurse, accountant to railroad conductors.
After the inspiring licensing portion of the meeting everyone enjoyed a beautiful array of "pot-luck" dishes followed by an afternnon of stimulating conversation and spiritual communion. Potential study groups were discussed and the next meeting date was set to solidify projects and get-togethers.
Seventeen Full Members and six Associate Members form the association.
The Pro-Tem Board consists of:
President - Judyth Shamosh
Vice President - Mark Hopkins
Secretary - Aaron Rutan
Treasurer - Steven Maddocks
Membership Chair - Troy Spence
Study Group - Jorge Vargas
We welcome these brothers and sisters and look forward to seeing many of them at the 2004 conference in Chicago. We pray their personal growth and dissemination efforts will be enhanced through their participation in this fraternal organization.
Sincerely,
Cathy Jones
