The Urantia Association International (UAI) is a task-oriented social service organization formed to foster an in-depth study of The Urantia Book and the dissemination of its teachings. Associations of the UAI develop and carry out activities that support Urantia Foundation's work as specified in its Declaration of Trust. The complete UAI is composed of self-governing constituent "associations." The associations are either National or Local in scope encompassing specific geographical regions. They are linked by a common UAI Charter but adopt bylaws specific to their needs. Collectively they comprise the Urantia Association International. Some National Associations (but not all) are composed of constituent Local Associations wherein the voting members of the National Association are the Presidents and Vice Presidents of the Local Associations. The National Association is only concerned with matters common to all Local Associations, such as national conferences, national news letters, and other activities that require coordination and communication between the Local Associations. Each constituent association elects its own Governing Board comprised of a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Committee chairs for functions such as publications, education, and membership may be elected or appointed. A Local Association requires a minimum of 10 members whereas a National Association requires a minimum of 30 members. There can be only one National Association per country but it can cover more than one country. All members must have read The Urantia Book in its entirety. Readers wishing to affiliate with the UAI but who have not yet finished reading the Book may become an Associate Member of the UAI. National and Local Urantia Associations are chartered through the International Service Board. A UAI Administrator, works with the associations to coordinate and administer functions as required.
